Attended: Young Doctor Weekend

"I attended The Young Doctor Programme in 2019 during Year 11, I can confidently say it helped me choose the right career, giving me knowledge and advice, I can use to maximise my potential in the medical field.
The programmed encouraged me to pick the right A-Levels and ensured me that I would always be supported in my application. During the programme, we were given the fundamental concepts about the medical profession, and advice on CV building and interview tips, that I still constantly use and pass along to my peers and friends. An hour of the programme was dedicated to medical school application and tips about writing the perfect personal statement were given to everyone, alongside interview tips and we even had an activity amongst ourselves where we acted out what the perfect interview would look like. I used everything we were provided to write my personal statement which got me accepted into the University of Brighton.
Looking back at my younger self as now a second-year student, l know InvestIN supported me along my process to make the right choices, and I still value the advice from professionals that were brought on stage such as Junior Doctors, Orthopaedic surgeon, and Psychiatrist. These doctors were brought on stage and gave advice on the medicine interview process, took questions on their profession, and gave us general advice on creating connections. A particular comment about always stepping out of your comfort zone and creating relationships in the field has stuck with me through my journey from secondary school, through to A-Levels and now with me in university."
The Alumni Project
We often get asked what our students do beyond InvestIN - whether they continue to pursue the same career, or pivot into a different field. In 2023 we conducted a survey of our alumni students to find out what they are doing now and whether InvestIN helped them in this journey.
80% of respondents said that our programmes helped them decide what career to pursue
78% of respondents referenced InvestIN in their university application
3/4 of respondents that referenced InvestIN received a place at their first choice university
2/3 of respondents said our programmes gave them the knowledge and skills they needed to succeed in their chosen career
