Overview

The Young Lawyer Weekend gives students aged 15-18 an immersive experience of Law through a series of role-plays, seminars, simulations and Q&A sessions led by a group of experienced law professionals over 2 days. You can choose to attend the programme either in-person or ‘Live Online’.

Attendance will give you an edge over other aspiring lawyers in the race for the best jobs and a ‘super-curricular’ experience to add to your university or college application.

An Immersive Experience of Legal Practice:

  • You will step into the shoes of a lawyer for the weekend, with top lawyers coaching you through interactive simulations that will give you genuine, hands-on experience of real-life cases, including: 
  • A live murder trial where you will evidence and present crucial legal arguments

  • An emotionally charged divorce case involving the custody of children
  • A high value company seeking legal advice on a tricky commercial problem it has encountered

Fees, Eligibility and Options

This programme is for students aged 15-18. No prior knowledge or experience is required. The programme involves a mixture of interactive simulations, exercises and Q&A sessions. You can choose to attend the programme either in-person or ‘Live Online’; the content is very similar for both.

Programme Fee:

'Live Online’: £165/student for both days

In-Person: £165/student for one day (you can choose either day 1 or 2) OR £295/student for both days

- A live murder trial where you will analyse police evidence and examine witness evidence in a courtroom based simulation
- Advocacy top tips from experienced barristers/advocates/attorneys
- Learn from top lawyers how to best handle evidence in court and deliver effective submissions and speeches
- Take part in determining and delivering the verdict

COVID-19 Group

We do not anticipate any Covid-related issues preventing us from delivering the in-person programme. Any government guidance on Covid-related safeguarding (such as the wearing of masks and social distancing) will of course be adhered to. We have managed to successfully deliver in-person programmes during the Covid-19 pandemic (including during the summers of 2020 and 2021), with excellent feedback. We are therefore highly experienced in giving students a fantastic experience even with social distancing rules in place.

In the unlikely event that the in-person programme is cancelled because of Covid-19 then students will have two options: i) move to the next in-person date; ii) move to the ‘Live Online’ version of the programme you selected and be refunded the difference in price. (If you pay via credit because you postponed a previous booking then the credit note will be reissued to you in full).
