The Young Doctor Summer Internship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for aspiring medics to undertake the work experience of their dreams in London. Over the course of 10 days, you will dive into the heart of life at the world-famous University College Hospital, shadowing doctors and practising medical tasks that students would never normally be able to experience before medical school. Also available on the internship are immersive medical visits to Prague, the University of Oxford, and some of London’s pioneering digital health companies.

Design Your Own Internship:

  • Choose to attend the Full Internship (10 days), Half Internship (5 days) or Weekend Internship (2 days).
  • Students who attend the Full Internship can opt for the European Stream (International Medical Experience Trip to Prague) or the UK stream (the University of Oxford and Artificial Intelligence-themed visits around London) for days 6,7 and 8.
  • Accommodation, meals, guardianship and airport pick-up are available if required and can be added at checkout. London accommodation is provided at UCL’s halls of residence. Evening social activities will also be provided for students booking with accommodation.

    European Stream Medical Experience Trip to Prague - Return flights to Prague with 2 nights' accommodation

    WHO CAN ATTEND?

    The Internship is for students aged 15-18 who have the passion and ambition to both learn about this career and start boosting their university/college applications & CVs. If you are a student who is slightly older or younger than our guidelines, then please do get in touch with us to discuss your specific situation.

    You can secure your place simply by clicking “Register Now”.

    There is no application process. We operate on a first-come first-served basis and programme places are highly limited. We expect to be fully-booked for our Summer Internships several months in advance so advise you to register as soon as possible.

    No prior knowledge or experience is required to join this programme as we build your knowledge from the basics up to more advanced concepts.

    OPTIONS & FEES

    The internship will take place on 2 occasions in 2020. You can choose either:

    24th July – 2nd August 2020
    21st – 30th August 2020

    Students can book for either 2, 5 or 10 days of the Internship. For 10-day Interns, there is an optional International trip to Europe (Prague)*. A full breakdown of options and pricing can be found below:

    (*If the Europe option is selected at registration, you will not be charged for that part of the internship now, but the place will be secured. The balance will be paid directly to our tour operator; we will contact you to make that payment in January 2020).
