This qualification not only enhances your knowledge and skills but also provides tangible evidence of your commitment to your desired field - a powerful asset when applying to universities.
Why do I need a qualification in work experience?
Whether you're applying to university in the UK, the US or internationally, this qualification adds credibility to your application. Admissions teams are looking for evidence of your suitability and commitment to the course you're applying to study. Beyond academic achievements, they're looking for future professionals who understand the demands of the industry and possess the foundational skills to thrive. By earning this qualification, students provide concrete evidence of employability skills like problem-solving, teamwork, and communication, all highly valued by universities and employers alike.
Plus, if you’re applying to a UK university, there’s an additional benefit: this qualification equates to 8 UCAS points you can add directly to your UCAS application!
What are UCAS points?
UCAS points, or UCAS tariff points, are a numerical value that measures the value of UK qualifications. They are used to compare your post-16 qualifications for university entry and apply to most qualifications, such as A Levels, T Levels, BTECs and other awards, such as our Level 3 Award in Work Experience & Career Planning. The numerical value is used by some universities to assess whether you meet their entry requirements for a specific course. You can find out more here.
How do I get a qualification in work experience?
During the programme, you’ll complete a reflective diary, documenting the industry skills and insights you develop. This diary will capture key learning experiences, from understanding workplace dynamics to honing specific technical and soft skills.
Your workbook will then be assessed against established criteria. If you meet all the learning outcomes, you’ll be awarded the Level 3 qualification, which can then be added to your UCAS application and listed in your academic credentials. Once certified, you’ll receive a certificate by post, a formal recognition of your achievement that you can showcase in your future applications.
