Please find below some of our most frequently asked questions. If you have any other questions you'll be able to find our full FAQ list here and you are also welcome to reach out to us at info@investin.org and we'll be happy to help!

When is the deadline for registering for an experience?
Places on our programmes are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis so we will close registration as soon as we reach capacity, because of this we would always recommend booking as soon as possible to ensure you do not miss the opportunity to attend.
Do I get a certificate?
All students are invited to complete a post-programme online assessment and upon completion, they will receive a digital, personalised certificate. Students attending 2-week programmes will also receive a physical certificate and an industry reference letter.
Who are your safeguarding team?
On each Summer Experience, we have safeguarding team members on-site 24/7 to promote the safeguarding and pastoral welfare of our students. Our team are security-vetted (enhanced DBS-checked) professionals who work in education full time and our team is made up of Academic Professionals / LSA, Safeguarding Officers, Nursing Professionals, and Mental Health Practitioners. Students will therefore always be able to easily contact a guardian, should they need any support.
Do you offer payment plans?
You can secure your place online with a non-refundable £950 deposit and pay the remainder at a later date. Please contact info@investin.org if you would like to discuss alternative payment plans.
Will there be any opportunities for rest days?
Programme hours take place Monday-Friday, with a break over the weekend. If you select the 2-Week Premium option, the weekend will feature exclusive professional development opportunities outlined in the timetable.
What does dental work experience involve?
Dental work experience can involve activities such as: - Working alongside top dentists in a clinic - Observing a dentist undertake procedures like fillings, root canal treatments and crown fittings - Drilling teeth and taking impressions on phantom heads - Taking patient histories from real patients
What work experience do you need for dental school?
As a minimum, students looking to get into dental school should try to spend at least: - One week in a dental practice (ideally NHS) - One week either in a hospital, shadowing a specialist, or in a private dental practice Dental schools are more interested in what you gain from your experience, so there's no straightforward answer as to exactly what experience you'll need. However, schools are highly competitive, so get as much experience as you can to support your application. Attending an InvestIN experience will also enable you to visit various dental practices and try out tasks typical of a dentist working in the field, which you can refer to in your personal statements and interviews.
Why is work experience important for getting into dental school?
Work experience increases students' understanding of dental careers, giving them a realistic awareness of day-to-day work and practical experience performing key tasks.
Can you be a dentist without a degree?
All dentists must complete 5 years of training for a degree at university. The degree consists of academic lectures and seminars, alongside learning practical skills that you'll use in your future career.
Why is getting into dental school so competitive?
There are fewer dental schools than medical schools, and far more students wanting to study at a dental school than there are places. On average, there are around 15 applications for each place in an undergraduate dental school.
What do dental schools look for?
Dental schools will often look at an applicant's: - Communication skills: Applicants who can give clear and logical answers in interviews will impress interviewers more than those whose answers are rehearsed - Attitude: Aspiring dentists should exhibit traits and values fitting for the profession, such as integrity and diligence - Motivation: Applicants should explain their motivations for wanting to become a dentist, such as the experiences that influenced them - Understanding of a career in dentistry: Applicants should have a good understanding of what a career in dentistry will be like - Industry knowledge: Knowledge of current industry news and an awareness of scientific issues will strengthen an application
