We’ve really enjoyed seeing all the fantastic entries for this year’s Annual Photography Competition. It’s been great to get a glimpse into what inspires so many young people in their future careers - whether that’s a family member, a mentor, a place or a special moment. A big thank you to everyone who took part. Not only have you shared something really meaningful, but with each entry, a donation has been made to UNICEF.
The variety of photos and the stories behind them made judging incredibly difficult, but we’re excited to announce our winners!
WINNER
Reflections of Me
Sometimes, a reflection doesn’t show the whole story. For those who have been injured or born with differences, the way they see themselves can be deeply affected. As a future plastic surgeon, I want to help people heal, restoring not just their appearance, but their confidence and self-perception.
InvestIN’s Comments: We loved Jago’s unique and creative take on the perception of the plastic surgery industry. Their passion for helping others see themselves in a positive light is truly commendable. Best of luck with your future career!
RUNNERS-UP
Biophilic Design
The mix of brutalist and biophilic design in this housing estate in London connects people to nature within their home environment. Humans have evolved to live in and connect to nature. We need nature for our physical and mental health but our cityscapes often don't reflect this. The architecture in this photo inspired me to find out about biophilic design and my dream is to design buildings that reconnect humans and nature.
InvestIN’s Comments: We were fascinated by the contrasts in this submission, blending green spaces with urban living is a valuable pursuit. We love that Otto has taken inspiration from the cityscape around them.
Three Faces
I've always known I wanted a career helping others. Studying psychology has given me an insight into the path I would like to follow, which is helping young people with mental illnesses. I am interested in studying specialised mental health disorders because I want to be a therapist. This photo represents multiple personality disorder.
InvestIN’s Comments: We were incredibly impressed with Mabel’s photography skills, they are clearly a talented artist. They interpreted a difficult topic in such a beautiful way, and we admire their mission to support young people and their mental health. Keep it up!
SHORTLIST
My dream as a hobby
My dream job is being an interior designer, focusing on aesthetics, functionality, and the views of the client. In my image there is a drawing of a one-point perspective room, which I drew, and had lots of fun doing it. I thought I could do this as a living, and so I thought it could be an enjoyable job, even though it’s not my only idea! I tried doing my image as aesthetic as possible, placing elements with intention and the drawing as a centre of attention. That is why I called this My dream as a hobby.
Workshop
A family member's workshop in their garage: a place that reminds me every time I visit it how much I want to have somewhere like that, accessible to me at all times, to work and be creative with everything I could possibly need at hand, both as part of my career as a robotics engineer and beyond.
Her Stage to My Vision
This is my mother, whose tireless passion and love of theatre made way for my own dreams of being a director. She was told she couldn't make her dream a reality, but she refused to let that hold her back. With her talent, dedication, and unmistakable spark, she brought her vision to life on the stage. Watching her breakthrough those barriers and pour her heart into her work has shown me the power of resilience and imagination. Her journey gives me the courage to forge my own path in the world of directing.
