We are proud to formally announce that InvestIN is now the world's only accredited summer school where students can gain UCAS points for work experience.

Are you ready to take your university and job applications to the next level? We are thrilled to introduce an exclusive opportunity for students who attended our 2024 2-week Summer Experiences. InvestIN is now offering a Level 3 qualification in Work Experience and Career Planning, specifically designed to boost your university and job applications.

This unique qualification allows you to earn 8 UCAS points by completing a series of reflective assessments based on your summer experience. You will be able to complete this assessment from the comfort of your own home and at a time that suits you.

Please be aware that registration for this qualification is open for a very limited time. To ensure you don't miss out, you must secure your spot by 5pm on Friday the 6th September. Once registered, we'll provide you with all the necessary information and assessment materials to get you started on this valuable journey.

What are the benefits?

Our Level 3 qualification in Work Experience and Career Planning is a newly accredited programme certified by a UCAS-recognised exam board. By successfully completing this qualification, you can earn valuable UCAS points to support your university application.

Universities in the UK offer places through various criteria—some make offers directly based on UCAS points, while others focus more on specific grades. Even for universities that don’t rely on UCAS points, this qualification is an excellent addition to your application, demonstrating your commitment to career planning. This is an exclusive qualification only available to InvestIN students who have completed our Summer 2024 two-week summer experiences so will no doubt be a fantastic addition to your UCAS and university applications.

Plus, this certification will give your future job applications and interviews a powerful boost! Adding this qualification to your resume showcases your commitment to professional development and career planning, helping you stand out from the competition.

What happens after I register?

Once you have successfully completed registration you will receive confirmation of this registration from InvestIN. You will then receive your own workbook to complete and your candidate number on or before Friday 13th September. Once you have received the workbook you will have until Tuesday 1st October 5pm BST to complete the qualification. Should you have any questions during the process, please do not hesitate to reach out to InvestIN who will be able to provide guidance.

Upon successful submission, InvestIN will then mark your completed assessment paper before reverting to you with a provisional Pass/Fail decision on Tuesday 15th October. At this point, you will be able to reference the qualification in your university or job applications. We will also send your physical certificate in the post by 15th December.

For those applying to university in the UK, you will also receive 8 UCAS points for the completion of this qualification which will count alongside your A-Level or International Baccalaureate grades on your UCAS application.

How much does the assessment cost?

The total assessment fee is £375, which includes assessment materials, on-hand support, grading, and a physical certificate.

Where do I complete the assessment?

You can complete the assessment from your own home at a time that suits you. The deadline for completing the workbook is 5pm on the 1st October.

What form does the assessment take?

The assessment consists of a workbook with questions based on the Summer Experience you completed. Once you’ve answered the questions, simply send it back to us for marking.

Can I do this if I’m an international student?

Yes, all students who attended a 2-week Summer Experience are eligible to take this assessment. As a Level 3 qualification, it’s recognised globally and can be included in applications to universities and colleges worldwide.

What qualification will I receive?

You’ll receive a Level 3 qualification in Work Experience and Career Planning, equivalent to 8 UCAS points. We’re proud to be the only accredited summer school in the world where students can earn UCAS points for work experience.

Does it matter if I am not applying to university this year?

We highly recommend taking the assessment this year, as you’ve recently completed the 2-week Summer Experience. You will still be able to add the qualification to your application whenever you decide to apply to university. 

This qualification can also help you stand out throughout your academic and career journey, such as when applying to sixth-form college or other work experience opportunities.

Can you tell me more about the assessment marking?

This qualification brings together the lessons and activities you've already completed with your personal reflections, which you'll record in the workbook. You'll have access to your programme materials which will help guide you in answering these questions. Once you have submitted the workbook you will be given a Pass/Fail decision by Tuesday 15th October

We are confident that if you fully engage with the workbook and answer all the questions, you will be able to pass the assessment. If you do not pass, we offer one immediate retake at no extra cost.

What support is available?

Once you have confirmation of registration InvestIN will send you the assessment materials as well as a copy to the slides and materials used during your summer experience to help support you with completing the assessment. Should you require anymore clarification reach out to info@investin.org who will be able to offer support from members of staff who worked on your summer experience.

6th September
Deadline for applying for Level 3 in Work Experience and Career Planning qualification.

7th-10th September
All applicants will receive an email with their assessment materials alongside further resources to support their application.

1st October
Deadline for submission of assessment materials to InvestIN.

15th October
Provisional pass/fail decision given to students from InvestIN. At this point, you will be able to reference this qualification in your university application.

15th December
Final physical certification for Level 3 in Work Experience and Career Planning sent to successful candidates via mail.

In order to successfully complete the Level 3 in Work Experience and Career Planning you must complete your assessment workbook. This will comprise of the following assessment components:

  • A summary of the goals you set at the start of your InvestIN summer experience and a reflection on whether you achieved these goals 
  • A reflective diary summarising the activities completed on each day of the programme, the skills this helped you develop and where you performed well or needed to improve on each day 
  • A short career development plan including some research on a job role covered within the career you studied 
  • A summary of networking opportunities covered on the programme and how these will support your career
  • A summary of your performance on the assessed activity you undertook on the final day of your experience

This qualification is a Level 3 qualification and encompasses a combination of the lessons and activities undertaken on the programme and your own written work completed in the assessment workbook.
