The Young Writer Summer Experience gives students aged 15-18 a fully-immersive experience of working as a writer in London.
Over the course of 15 days, students will have some of the most exclusive experiences of writing that one can imagine: visit a top publishing house and present your work to literary professionals, step into the shoes of a freelance writer and premier your collection at The British Library.

- Premiere your original writing collection at an exclusive book launch, held in one of London literary venues: The British Library.
- Visit a leading publishing house and present your original manuscript to a panel of literary professionals and for their feedback.
- Sell your story: pitch your book to publicity officers and sales & marketing representatives.
- Become a freelance writer: develop the central concept, plot-points, scripts and storylines to be used in a popular book.
- Step into the shoes of a Journalist, write newsworthy headlines, and filter through fake news to differentiate fact from fiction.
- Attend a private networking event with literary professionals in publishing, creative writing, editing, reviewing and marketing.
- Be coached through the immersive experiences by writers and literary professionals specialising in publishing, creative writing, editing, reviewing and more.
- Private networking sessions with these professionals, who can become vital connections for your future career.
- Receive training on how to land the most desirable jobs in writing.
- Advice on subject choices, university selection, work experience, extra-curricular activities and more.

This Summer Experience is for students aged 15-18 and you do not require any prior knowledge to attend.
The programme starts on 28th July 2023. You can choose to attend for either days 1-5, days 1-10 or days 1-15; and either with or without accommodation. Pricing for all options is set out below.

- The programme is based at UCL and the surrounding University of London campus. Certain days take place in other key industry locations in London.
Accommodation location:
Students who choose accommodation will reside in University of London halls of residence. We occupy 3 different halls close-by to each other (listed below). The vast majority of students will be placed in Garden Halls

Covid-19
There are no travel restrictions in place in order to enter the UK; you are not required to test or to provide proof of vaccination status, so you can book your programme place with confidence.
