The Young Lawyer Programme gives students aged 15-18 an immersive experience of legal practice, wrapping up the key knowledge and experience you want to gain, delivered powerfully by leading lawyers from across the board. Throughout the programme you will be immersed in a series of interactive role-plays, simulations, seminars and Q&A sessions, to give you a genuine experience of life as a lawyer in some of the most desirable areas of practice.

The programme takes place over 2 days – Saturday dedicated to Criminal and Family Law, and Sunday to Corporate and Human Rights Law. You can choose to attend either one or both days.

Attendance will give you an edge over other aspiring lawyers in the race for the best jobs and a ‘super-curricular’ experience to add to your UCAS application.

An Immersive Experience of Legal Practice:

  • You will step into the shoes of a lawyer for the weekend, with top solicitors and barristers coaching you through interactive simulations that will give you genuine, hands-on experience of real-life cases, including: 
  • A live murder trial where you can cross-examine witnesses
  • A high-profile human rights case about the deportation of a terrorist
  • A multi-million-pound celebrity divorce case involving the custody of children
  • Corporate legal advice to a multi-billion-dollar tech company that wants to expand abroad
  • There will also be public speaking coaching by expert barristers

Career Coaching for Future Lawyers:

  • You will be trained on how to fulfil your ambitions of becoming a top lawyer
  • An action plan of how to become a solicitor or barrister, starting now

Programme Format:

The programme involves a mixture of interactive simulations, exercises and Q&A sessions. A full timetable can be found below.

    11.00am Enter The Courtroom - An immersive experience of interactive legal exercises to give you the core skills you need to be a successful lawyer: public speaking, organisation, attention to detail, commercial awareness and communication:
    - Debate with opponents in a high-profile litigation case
    - Advise a client on a multi-million pound faulty goods claim
    - Public speaking coaching by a senior barrister
    12.30pm The Criminal Lawyer: Live Murder Trial (Part I) - Live murder trial where you will:
    - Analyse police evidence
    - Hear witness evidence
    - Cross-examine witnesses
    - Play the role of the jury and deliver the verdict
    - Part I of the trial includes evidence from the first 3 witnesses
    1.30pm Lunch Break
    2.15pm The Criminal Lawyer: Live Murder Trial (Part II) - Part II of the trial includes evidence from the final witness, summary speeches by barristers and the jury’s verdict
    3.00pm The Family Lawyer: High-Profile Celebrity Divorce - Experience a high-profile celebrity divorce case where you will tackle the following issues and act for one of the parties:
    - Allocating assets
    - Custody of children
    - Highly-emotional clients
    - Mock trial before a judge
    4.00pm Career Coaching – How To Become A Top Lawyer - Expert advice from solicitors and barristers on how you can break into the industry, starting now
    - A-level/IB, degree and university choices
    - Work experience
    - Impactful cover letters/CVs
    - Interview techniques
    - What you can do now to stand out in the future
    4.45pm Panel Discussion - Ask questions to experienced lawyers from criminal and family backgrounds

    11.00am The Corporate Lawyer (Part II): Step into the City - Step into the shoes of a corporate lawyer by experiencing a series of real-life scenarios from the world of international business:
    - A billion-dollar tech company wants to expand into Europe and Asia. How can you help them?
    - You will be guided by a senior corporate lawyer in exploring the many legal issues that the company must consider
    - Specific coaching on ‘commercial awareness’ – the most important skill for corporate lawyers

    2.15pm The Human Rights Lawyer: Experience a high-profile terrorist deportation case - An afternoon of interactive human rights law experiences. You will be guided through a real-life case by a human rights lawyer:
    - Is it lawful for a suspected terrorist to be deported to his homeland?
    - Analyse key parts of the European Convention on Human Rights and how it is used to make crucial legal judgments
    - Understand what the human rights act means for lawyers and clients across the world
    - The complex dynamic between law and politics
    4.00pm Career Coaching – How To Become A Top Lawyer - Expert advice from solicitors and barristers on how you can break into the industry, starting now

    You can attend this programme via our state-of-the-art, interactive online platform from anywhere in the world. All the content will be delivered in a live, interactive manner and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions of our experienced professionals. All you need is an internet connection; we will send you full details of how to access the programme well in advance.


    This programme is for students aged 15-18 who have the passion and ambition to both learn about this career, and start boosting their UCAS/college applications & CVs. If you are a student who is slightly older or younger than our guidelines, then please do get in touch with us to discuss your specific situation.

We operate on a first-come first-served basis and programme places are limited; we are usually full a couple of months in advance of the programme date. No prior knowledge or experience is required to join this programme as we build your knowledge from the basics up to more advanced concepts.
