The Young Engineer Programme gives students aged 15-18 an immersive experience of engineering through a series of interactive role plays, seminars, case studies, and Q&A sessions with a group of distinguished engineers from some of the biggest names in the industry.

Attendance will give you a competitive edge in the race for the best universities and jobs in Engineering and a 'super-curricular' experience to add to your UCAS application.

An Immersive Experience of Engineering:

  • Engineers from world-leading brands will coach you through live, interactive experiences including:
  • Imagining the ultimate electric vehicle: use automotive engineering principles to revolutionise car manufacturing
  • Mapping a mission to Mars: select rocket propulsion architectures and colonisation approaches
  • Creating the city of the future: design a smart-city whilst considering population growth, VR/AR technologies and sustainability 

Career Coaching for Future Engineers:

  • An action plan of how to get a top job, starting now.
  • Coaching by experts on: A-level/IB, university and degree choices; extra-curricular activities; work experience; application and interview techniques.

An Audience With Top Engineers:

  • Q&A time with a selection of leading engineers from electric vehicle design, aeronautical engineering and software engineering.

Programme Format:

The programme takes place in a UCL lecture hall and involves a mixture of interactive simulations, exercises and Q&A sessions. A full timetable can be found below.

    This programme is for students aged 15-18 who have the passion and ambition to both learn about this career, and start boosting their UCAS/college applications & CVs. If you are a student who is slightly older or younger than our guidelines, then please do get in touch with us to discuss your specific situation.

    There is no application process, and you can secure your place simply by clicking “Register Now”. We operate on a first-come first-served basis and programme places are limited; we are usually full a couple of months in advance of the programme date. No prior knowledge or experience is required to join this programme as we build your knowledge from the basics up to more advanced concepts.
