For 14 years, InvestIN has been committed to providing high-quality work experience for students and helping them become truly differentiated from others in the job market. However, recent years have seen quite a drastic shift in employer expectations and the number of graduates who are unable to find work has risen considerably. Workplace Intelligence’s 2025 research provides some insight into why this is the case. Across the U.S., UK and Germany, they found that 89% of managers say Gen Z lack the technical skills required for frontline roles. Frontline work is anything that involves direct interaction with customers, clients, or any member of the general public. That’s most jobs. With this in mind, we searched for a way to help our students become even better equipped for the future. We’re excited to introduce the InvestIN Career Accelerator!
Helping Our Students Stand Out
We have partnered with a virtual work experience provider to give our students access to a virtual career experience platform that is tailored to their chosen field. The InvestIN Career Accelerator will allow students who have completed a 2-Week Enhanced Summer Experience to continue gaining relevant work experience, beyond the summer. This is a really exciting development as students will have the opportunity to complete 40-hour virtual micro-internships in their chosen field, receiving employer-branded certificates upon completion, and participate in interview simulations, delivered by an AI coach.
The 40-hour virtual micro-internships give students a truly immersive experience, working on real-world projects set by employers. Over the course of each micro-internship, students will learn how to plan, build, automate and present a solution to a real business problem. In addition, many of the projects have been set by FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies.
Preparing for an AI-Powered Workforce
As AI literacy is quickly becoming a critical skill for most graduate jobs, we wanted to ensure that our new offering would also address this need. At the start of each micro-internship, students will be trained in a manner similar to that of a junior consultant. Throughout the training, emphasis will be placed on the development of proficiency in creating working solutions using AI tools. Structured feedback will be provided, enabling our students to really refine their skills.
Getting Students Interview-Ready
To become familiar with modern graduate recruitment practices, students can also engage with interview simulations where they have the opportunity to practise interview questions with a realistic voice and video avatar. In the simulations, they will be faced with scenario-based questions that are tailored to the sectors and job roles that they have expressed an interest in. The feedback offered is extensive: students receive live cues on attentiveness, instant comments on their tone, answer structure and selected content and the ability to track their progress with an Interview Readiness Score. Employers are paying close attention to skills such as critical thinking and problem solving, so we recognise that it is extremely important for students to practise evidencing these skills in interviews.
A Special Added Extra
In addition, The InvestIN Career Accelerator will grant our students access to a suite of online modules. Everything from university courses to employability skills and industry specialisms is covered by the available modules. The possibilities are (almost) endless!
Accessing the Platform
After completing InvestIN’s 2-Week Enhanced Summer Experience, our students will receive their login details, enabling them to activate their membership to the platform before the specified deadline. Access to the platform will last 12 months from the date of activation so students will have plenty of time to make their way through all of the available resources and add a real sparkle to their CV.
