The Young Fashion Designer Summer Experience gives students aged 15-18 a 360-degree, fully immersive experience of working in the fashion industry in London.

Over the course of 15 days, students aged 15-18 will have some of the most prestigious experiences of the fashion industry that one can imagine: building your own fashion brand and receiving expert guidance at every stage of your design process, presenting your final collection to a panel of designers at a London Fashion Week venue and style and shoot your very own ‘Lookbook’ at a professional central London studio.

Also available on the Summer Experience are immersive visits to the headquarters of a top London fashion brand, a top fashion journalism publishing house and Central Saint Martins university.entrepreneurship that one can imagine: Designing a business strategy to create a multi-billion dollar company, visiting some of Europe’s fastest growing firms and pitching your ideas to senior venture capital investors in a London Skyscraper.

    - ‘Launch your Fashion Brand:’ Name your Start-up fashion label and finalise your garments by dressing your mannequins ahead of the showcase

    You’ve just taken a deep-dive into the Fashion Design process, and completed the design of your first fashion label. Over the next five days, you will experience Fashion from a new perspective: (i) you will step into the shoes of a stylist and execute your own fashion shoot (ii) gain a first-hand look at what goes on behind the scenes in the retail world (iii) create a marketing campaign for your fashion label and get behind-the scenes experience at a magazine house. Finally, you will curate a Fashion Show of your projects from the previous 10 days to showcase to professionals.

    Today you will be shooting a ‘Lookbook’ for your sustainable Fashion Brand with help from a professional stylist

    - Meet both Stylists and Fashion Photographers to gain an insight into how these professionals navigate the freelance world of Fashion Shoots
    - Discover the creative process behind every famous fashion shoot: from mood board, model-sourcing, hair and make-up to the photography on the day
    - Understand how diverse representation is crucial in your ‘Lookbook’ and how to foster an inclusive environment on set

    - Showcase the projects you have produced across the internship by hosting your own fashion show to celebrate all your hard work at a London Fashion Week venue.

    In the unlikely event that the in-person programme is completely cancelled because of Covid-19 then students will receive a refund. We have never yet had to cancel a London summer experience, having successfully delivered programmes during the summers of 2020 and 2021, with strict social distancing and excellent feedback. We shall of course adhere to all Covid-related government guidelines in place at the time of the programme and keep student safety as the highest priority.
