The Young Psychologist Summer Internship ‘Live & Online’ gives students aged 15-18 a 360-degree summer work experience in Psychology, from the comfort of their own home. Over the course of 4 days, you will be working with top psychologists ‘Live & Online’ via our state-of-the-art interactive platform.

You will experience the real-life work of a psychologist, with opportunities to experience live patient consultations, testify as a psychology expert witness during a criminal trial, and develop a psychological 'game plan' for a leading sports team.

You will also be able to network with our psychologists and ask them all your burning questions.

      *Patients will be played by actors. Mental health data is fictionalised but based on the real experiences of our professional psychologists.

      Internship Format & Options:

      The programme involves a mixture of interactive simulations, exercises and Q&A sessions delivered via our state-of-the-art, interactive online platform. The internship is delivered LIVE by experienced professionals.

        Day 1: Clinical Psychology
        11.00am The World of a Psychologist - Psychology in the real life: a world of opportunities
        - A unique client relationship
        - Expectations vs reality
        11.30am Patient Consultations: Diagnosis - Under the guidance of high-ranking clinical psychologists, you will participate in live, simulated patient consultations
        - Learn the fundamentals of patient interaction - building trust and establishing rapport
        - Recognise and diagnose key symptoms across a variety of patients

        2.00pm Patient Consultations: Treatment - Develop bespoke treatment plans for each patient based on real-life strategies and techniques
        - Get patients to accept and follow your treatment plan

        Day 2: Forensic Psychology
        11.00am Psychology in Law: The Expert Witness - Work alongside forensic and criminal psychologists to assess the mental capacity of juveniles in a simulated criminal case
        - Take to the stand and testify as an expert witness
        - Eyewitness Testimony: when help becomes hindrance
        1.00pm Lunch Break
        1.30pm Psychology in Law: Behind Bars - Carry out in-depth risk assessments on criminals (played by actors, but based on real-life cases)
        - Explore the controversial science of offender and re-offender profiling
        - Evaluate the mental and behavioural impact of in-prison bullying
        - Discover how to implement successful rehabilitation programmes
        3.00pm Career Coaching & Panel Discussion - Your career as a future psychologist
        - Coaching on choosing the right university, A-levels, and degree subject, and how to get the right work experience

        Day 3: Psychology in Business and Sport
        11.00am Psychology in Business: The Bottom Line - Employing psychological techniques to increase business value
        - Analyse a company's customer base and review their conversion strategy
        - Oversee the organisational overhaul of a new client's business

        1.30pm Psychology in Sport: The Game Plan - Consult with a sports team and assist with key areas of player development and performance
        - Recognise the team's critical flaws during game-time
        - Organise a personalised feedback session with a troubled player
        - Goal setting: develop psychological strategies to enhance players’ concentration and resilience
        3.00pm Psychology in Sport: Match Day - Going for the win: analyse your opponents and exploit their weaknesses

        You can attend this programme via our state-of-the-art, interactive online platform from anywhere in the world. All the content will be delivered in a live, interactive manner and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions of our experienced professionals. All you need is an internet connection; we will send you full details of how to access the programme well in advance.


        The Internship is for students aged 15-18 who have the passion and ambition to both learn about this career and start boosting their university/college applications & CVs.         No prior knowledge or experience is required to join this programme as we build your knowledge from the basics up to more advanced concepts.
