The Young Investment Banker Weekend
The Young Investment Banker Weekend
London • Ages 18-22

Dates: 23rd to 24th November 2019
Location: University College, London

Investment banking remains the ‘holy grail’ of careers for thousands of university students, fascinated by the allure of global financial markets. Ambitious students seek to gain the knowledge, skills and experience needed to break into the industry as early as possible, to gain an advantage in the race for internships and graduate placements.

At the Young Investment Banker Weekend (held at UCL), you will work directly with senior bankers from bulge-bracket institutions who will provide you with a comprehensive competitive advantage in securing a position at a leading investment bank.

That competitive advantage is broken down into 4 critical areas:

  • Knowledge - an in-depth understanding of the key concepts bankers must be aware of, such as bid/offer and company valuation, as detailed in the programme timetables (see Sales & Trading Day and IB and Corp. Finance Day tabs)
  • Experience – the weekend is akin to a ‘mini-internship’ as you will participate in case studies and exercises based on our professionals’ real-life experiences
  • Recruitment - Focused training on how to excel in the recruitment process, which is then tested through mock assessment centre exercises, with feedback provided
  • Networking – during the weekend, there will be networking sessions with the bankers, who can give you personal advice on how to maximise your career prospects

The weekend is split into two distinct topic areas – with one day being dedicated to each of a bank’s key front-office functions: Sales and Trading (Saturday) and Investment Banking (Sunday). You can choose to attend one day or both days of the programme. We do not have any prerequisites to attend this programme, simply a desire to break into the industry. We will provide you with all the skills and knowledge you require on the weekend itself.

After the programme, InvestIN continues to act as a platform for you to build a successful career upon. Our alumni have unlimited lifetime access to our depth of expertise; students can contact us with further questions at any time, and we make sure you are promptly given the advice you need. Your attendance on the programme is therefore just the beginning of our long-term commitment to coaching you towards achieving your career ambitions.

Internship Programme Fee:

Our programmes, however, are extremely popular and are often full months in advance. We offer our places on a first-come first-served basis and places are highly limited.
Do I need to have prior knowledge?
No prior knowledge is required to attend our programmes, as we introduce each topic from a basic level of understanding.
What is the dress code for the programme/internship?
We ask that students wear professional clothing on our programmes as you will be meeting industry executives. Essentially, avoid wearing jeans, trainers or tracksuits. Suits, chinos and other smart casual wear are all acceptable.
What time should I arrive?

Registration for the programme is between 9.15-9.45am and the programme begins at 10am

Do I need to bring anything with me?

You will need to bring your phone with you and download an app for one of the activities prior to the programme; details will be in your pre-programme email, that we will send a week before the programme date.

We also ask you to bring your laptop for Day 2 of the weekend.

Other than this, all you need is a pen, a notepad, and your enthusiasm! You will be provided with a booklet of materials on arrival, and throughout the programme you’ll be given the requisite equipment to participate in the simulations.
