On the Young Doctor Programme, a group of experienced doctors will immerse you in a series of interactive role-plays, simulations, seminars, and Q&A sessions, to give you an immersive experience of practising medicine. You will also be coached on how to maximise your chances of gaining entry into a top medical school.  Attendance will give you a competitive edge in the Medical School application process and a 'super-curricular' experience to add to your UCAS form.

An Immersive Experience of Medicine:

  • Experienced doctors will coach you through live, interactive simulations, including:
  • Stitching up a wound (suturing*), with a live demonstration by a senior surgeon
  • Immersing you in an A&E environment through a demonstration of the latest Virtual Reality technology. Race against the clock to save a patient's life
  • X-ray examination; taking a patient's medical history; recommending urgent tests 

Medical School Admissions Coaching:

  • Coaching by doctors on how to excel at every stage of the medical school admissions process
  • Model UCAS personal statements
  • UCAT and BMAT test practice
  • Powerful interview techniques

An Audience With Experienced Doctors:

  • Q&A time with leading doctors from a variety of disciplines

Programme Format:

The programme takes place in a University of Manchester lecture hall and involves a mixture of interactive simulations, exercises and Q&A sessions. A full timetable can be found below.

    This programme is for students aged 15-18 who have the passion and ambition to both learn about this career, and start boosting their UCAS/college applications & CVs. If you are a student who is slightly older or younger than our guidelines, then please do get in touch with us to discuss your specific situation.

    There is no application process, and you can secure your place simply by clicking “Register Now”. We operate on a first-come first-served basis and programme places are limited; we are usually full a couple of months in advance of the programme date. No prior knowledge or experience is required to join this programme as we build your knowledge from the basics up to more advanced concepts.
