The Young Lawyer Programme gives students aged 15-18 an immersive experience of legal practice, wrapping up the key knowledge and experience you want to gain, delivered powerfully by leading lawyers from across the board. Throughout the day, you will be immersed in a series of interactive role-plays, simulations, seminars and Q&A sessions, to give you a genuine experience of life as a lawyer in some of the most desirable areas of practice.


You will leave the programme with a competitive edge over your peers in the race for the most desirable legal jobs, and a 'super-curricular' experience to include in your UCAS form.

You can choose to attend this programme EITHER in-person (at UCL) OR live online (via our state-of-the-art, interactive online platform).

HIGHLIGHTS

An Immersive Experience of Legal Practice:

  • You will step into the shoes of a lawyer for the day, with top solicitors and barristers coaching you through interactive simulations, including:

Programme Format & Options:

The programme involves a mixture of interactive simulations, exercises and Q&A sessions. You can choose to attend this programme EITHER in-person (at UCL) OR online (via our state-of-the-art, interactive online platform). Both options are identical in content and are delivered LIVE by experienced professionals.

The in-person programme takes place in a UCL lecture hall. The online programme involves the exact same content as the in-person one and offers the same opportunities to meet top professionals & boost your CV & UCAS form.

    - Public speaking coaching by a senior barrister
    11.50am The Criminal Lawyer – Live Murder Trial - Live murder trial where you will:
    - Analyse police evidence
    - Hear witness evidence
    - Cross-examine witnesses
    - Play the role of the jury and deliver the verdict
    1.15pm Lunch Break
    2.00pm The Corporate Lawyer - A senior City lawyer coaches you on the why, where, what, and who of corporate law firms
    - The pressure, the expectations, and the privileges
    - Your path to partnership at a prestigious City firm
    2.30pm The Human Rights Lawyer Debate with opponents in two thrilling human rights cases:
    - 1) Is it lawful for a suspected terrorist to be deported to his homeland?
    - 2) Can your client force his daughter to wear religious clothing?
    - Understand what the Human Rights Act means for lawyers and clients across the world
    - The complex dynamic between law and politics
    3.45pm Career Coaching – How To Become A Top Lawyer - Expert advice from a City law firm recruitment expert, and a Senior Barrister

    WHO CAN ATTEND?

    This programme is for students aged 15-18 who have the passion and ambition to both learn about this career, and start boosting their UCAS/college applications & CVs. If you are a student who is slightly older or younger than our guidelines, then please do get in touch with us to discuss your specific situation.


    There is no application process, and you can secure your place simply by clicking “Register Now”. We operate on a first-come first-served basis and programme places are limited; we are usually full a couple of months in advance of the programme date. No prior knowledge or experience is required to join this programme as we build your knowledge from the basics up to more advanced concepts.
