Internship Overview
The Young Publisher Programme gives students aged 15-18 an immersive experience of working in a Publishing House. You will take part in a series of interactive simulations, seminars, case studies and Q&A sessions with a team of editors, designers, publicists and sales representatives from some of the top publishing houses in the industry.
On the programme, you will gain knowledge and experience of the editorial process, including negotiating manuscripts and building authentic relationships with authors.
You will also learn the business of publishing, including how to publicise and generate hype in a competitive race to get your book from the first draft to bestseller.
The programme takes place over 2 days – Saturday dedicated to the editorial process and Sunday to generating publicity. You can choose to attend either one or both days.
There is also an optional third day: “Enhanced Career Coaching”, where recruitment experts will give you an experience of each stage of the process top firms use to recruit young publishers and help you create a personalised development plan – analysing your strengths and weaknesses – to maximise your chances of becoming a successful candidate.
Attendance will give you a competitive edge in the race for the best universities and jobs in Publishing and a ‘super-curricular’ experience to add to your CV and UCAS application.

This programme will take place online, delivered LIVE by top professionals, with opportunities for you to interact and ask questions. The programme involves a mixture of interactive simulations, exercises and Q&A sessions.

All the content will be delivered in a live, interactive manner and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions of our experienced professionals. This programme is for students aged 15-18 who have the passion and ambition to both learn about this career, and start boosting their UCAS/college applications & CVs. There is no application process, and you can secure your place simply by clicking “Register Now”. We operate on a first-come first-served basis and programme places are limited; we are usually full a couple of months in advance of the programme date. No prior knowledge or experience is required to join this programme as we build your knowledge from the basics up to more advanced concepts.
This programme will be delivered ‘Live Online’, so is not affected at all by any Covid-19 restrictions.
